About me I grew up in the historic German university town of Tübingen, with German as my mother tongue. From the age of 23 onwards I have been living first in England, then in Scotland and South Africa. As a result, I have become bi-lingual in German and English and I can safely say that I feel equally at home in both languages. Qualifications After studying languages, literature and philosophy at the Sorbonne, followed by Bonn and Freiburg i. Br., I received a DAAD bursary in 1977 and moved to Wadham College Oxford, and graduated with a B.A. in Classics and Modern Languages in 1981. I now hold an M.A. degree in that subject, my major languages of study having been Latin and German. EducationI spent the years from 1993 to 1999 gaining a second Masters degree in Homoeopathy. Three of these years were spent studying medical subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology and General Pathology, as well as doing an introductory course in both Psychology and Sociology. ExperienceI have been a free-lance translator in a variety of fields since 1983. I am a member of the South African Translators' Institute (SATI) and I pride myself on the accuracy of my work. I am registered with several local Conference organisers where I have gained experience in both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. I also edit and proofread texts and have sub-editing experience gained by working for the Business Day, a respected local business paper published daily in Johannesburg. InterestsMy interests are wide-ranging and include economics, finance, legal texts, literature in all its forms, as well as the natural sciences with a specific focus on Medicine and Alternative Medicine. I also have a keen interest in art, history and the theatre.
